The Kansas City Chiefs humiliating losses to the Dolphins and Broncos are only the beginning of the coming free fall. Tonight the Chief’s embark on what will more than likely be a double digit blow out at the hands of the New England Patriots. The Chief’s depleted secondary will be picked apart by Tom Brady and this game will be out of hand by half time.
The next four games after tonight’s game will be against last season’s final four. All four Conference Championship game members will take on the Chiefs in consecutive weeks. First, the Pittsburgh Steelers come in town, then the Chiefs travel to Chicago, then to New York to face the Jets, and then finally face the defending Super Bowl Champion Packers at home. The Chiefs will be double digit underdogs in all four games. Despite losing Jay Cutler for the season, the Bears defense and running game will be more than enough to destroy the Chiefs at Soldier field. The Jets game gives the Chiefs a punchers chance to win their 5th of the season but even Mark Sanchez isn’t bad enough to lose against this season’s Chiefs.
On week 16 the Chiefs will take on the AFC West front running Raiders. The Raiders will be battling for playoff position at this point and will relish at the chance to take apart the Chiefs. I believe the Chiefs will win one more game this year. That game will come in week 17 against the Denver Broncos in a completely meaningless battle. Both teams will be far out of the playoff picture and just playing to fulfill their contracts. The Chiefs will be motivated since they lost to the Broncos in week 10 despite Tim Tebow only competing 2 passes. This will leave the Chiefs with a 5-11 record and a top 5 pick.
This puts the Chiefs right where I had them after week 2 when I said they would finish with somewhere between 3 and 6 wins. This is one of those few times I wish I wasn’t right.
