Boo. It’s Halloween time here at Chiefs Command and we are as excited as anyone for this weeks 1st place contest that just happens to take place on Monday Night Football against the hated San Diego Chargers. I am excited to see Arrowhead Stadium rockin’ on primetime TV once again, especially after the 0-3 start. Anways…
Bring it on!
You can’t play a game like Derrick Johnson played last week and not be the first thing mentioned in my thread. I mean the dude was an absolute MONSTER last week. Ever since the Kansas City Chiefs drafted DJ, we have all been expecting big things. Last season we saw plenty of his big play ability emerge, but the consistency just wasn’t there. Fast-forward to this season and DJ has been solid in every single game. I look for him to continue his solid play and hopefully keep that San Diego run game in check.
With the debut of our first round pick coming last week, I look for an improved performance in week two. The ‘first game jitters’ are out of the way and now its time to get down to business. This will be Mr. Baldwin’s first game in primetime, but we need to see him to make an impact. Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston have been fantastic to this point, and they should take plenty of focus off of Baldwin. I look for Jon Baldwin to ‘break out’ this week with a big game.
Ah, we can’t seem to escape talking about Matt Cassel every week, can we? Bottom line, the guy gives us a great chance to win when he plays well (what QB doesn’t?). Last week he played poorly, but the defense won that game, hands down. If Matt plays like he did last week, there is almost no chance that the Chiefs pull out a victory in this huge game. As I predicted a big game from JB a second ago, that would naturally mean Cassel would have a big one with him. Calling the line: 26/38, 292 yds, 2 td’s, 0 int.
What to Watch for: Around the NFL
If I were writing this for any other teams site, the Chiefs/Chargers game would be my game of the week, but we will settle with this one. With the recent sucking of the Washington Redskins (no end in sight either) this division race has suddenly re-opened. A win by the Eagles here would mean the world to them and their chances at getting back in the mix.
Prediction: Eagles 38 Cowboys 27
Honorable Mention: New England @ Pittsburg, San Diego @ KC
