What to Watch for: Kansas City Chiefs @ St. Louis Rams

Well well well commanders (cheesy I know, but what else am I going to call you?), wasn’t that one heck of a game. Usually after a humiliating defeat like that I write a short, abbreviated, angry What to Watch for post. Not this time, no no. This week I will stay positive because I am holding out all hope that last week was a fluke. I hear optimism is the best way…

Bring it on:

No no, this isn’t a post about the Miami Heat, this really is about the Chiefs. This season, the chiefs have been able to respond nicely after bad defeats. I know, I know, every loss we have so far this season has come in pairs, with this last one still in progress. However, the two real bad losses (Houston and Denver) were followed up with solid victories. I think the Chiefs rebound nicely this week. We certainly will not overlook the St. Louis Rams, and all signs point to a Matt Cassel return, so I am thinking the Chiefs pull this one out.

Eric Berry:

Don’t say it, because I already talked about it last week, but I have to continue to talk about this guy. I love watching him play right now because he is giving it 1000% percent on every play. When the team was down big coming out of the half, and the defense had issues stoping the San Diego Chargers on 3rd down, Berry came up with a timely, acrobatic interception. Of course, the offense preceded to go three and out, but thats beside the point. Eric continues to improve every single game. In 5 years when we look back on this draft class, Eric Berry will be the best player and it won’t even be that close.

Dwayne Bowe/Rest of the ‘playmakers’:

I know what you are thinking and you haven’t even started reading this section yet. Don’t start talking about how Brodie Croyle was in and our offense was predictable; I know this. Even against Denver our offense lacked that fire that we displayed in Seattle. The last two weeks our offense has looked atrocious. Dwayne Bowe has had a major fall off since the streak. Last two games = 1 catch, 3 yards. Jamaal Charles hasn’t looked his best either (Even though it wasn’t his fault at all), and Thomas Jones (and Dexter McCluster) has been nowhere to be seen. Either way, the offense needs to get the playmakers involved if they want to score, and lately they haven’t been doing a very good job of that.

What to Watch for: Around the NFL

wow, there are so many great games to choose from. The honorable mention section is going to be like every game…

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

This game has major playoff implications. Jacksonville is a team that is trending and is finding ways to win, while Indy is just struggling. Can Peyton Manning create some magic when they need him? We as Chiefs fans needed him to create some a few weeks ago and that ended in something like 4 int’s. Either way, this should be a fantastic game with major playoff implications.

Honorable Mention (here we go):

San Fransisco @ San Diego, KC @ STL, New Orleans @ Baltimore, Philadelphia @ New York (G), New York (J) @ Pittsburg, Green Bay @ New England

  • I think you are correct when you say the San Diego game was a ‘fluke’. The Chiefs offense possessed the ball less than 20 minutes. That’s pathetic. You’re going to give up 31 points to a team like the Chargers if you give them the ball for 40+ minutes.
