Matt Leinart released by the Arizona Cardinals

Chiefs rumored to be interested in Matt Leinart

According to the Twitter account of Nick Wright from 610 Sports (KCSP), the Kansas City Chiefs are very interested in former Arizona Cardinals quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner and current free agent, Matt Leinart.

Leinart, a former 1st round draft pick, has struggled making an impact at the NFL level and is one of the most prolific draft busts of all time.

The move could signify that the Chiefs aren’t too confident in Matt Cassel and are looking for some insurance in case Cassel is ineffective or backup quarterback Brodie Croyle gets injured, as he so often does.

Leinart has a history with Chiefs’ head coach Todd Haley, as Haley was Leinart’s offensive coordinator in Arizona.
