Week Two: No Need to Panic

Wow, two teams took a pounding last weekend, the Chiefs and my week one opponent. The Chiefs offense was in a word… bad. I don’t see things getting much better this weekend against the Lions who I believe have an even better defense. I didn’t say this last week but feel like it needs to be said after that horrible performance, the only Chiefs that should be on anyone’s fantasy roster are Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe. If you are one of the unfortunate owners who have either one please bench them this week as things don’t look good. It looks bleak for the Chiefs this season as well as their fantasy production, but then again it was week one. No need to push the panic button just yet.

Week Two Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Projections:

Matt Cassel: 245 yards passing, 1 TD, 1 INT

Kenny writes…
I can start 2 backs, I have Blount, Moreno, Benson, and Tolbert who do I start for week 2 and who has the best chances? And receivers I have Megatron starting I need the other is a tossup I have Burleson, M. Floyd, and Pierre Garcon. Who has the best matchups? And is Pittsburgh defense still elite or was that just a bad game?

Kenny, for your running backs go with Benson and Blount. The Bengals will continue to be committed to the run regardless of their QB situation. McFadden ran all over Denver last week so I see no reason that Benson couldn’t do the same this week. Blount had a miserable week one; don’t expect that to happen often. He has the best matchup compared to your other backs. Nice job getting Megatron, he should be a stud all year. Garcon is nearly useless without Manning; keep him on your bench. I would start Burleson even though you already have a Lion WR in your lineup. Burleson should be able to get some great production against the Chiefs Swiss-cheese pass defense. Don’t worry about your defense. The difference between the number one defense and the number ten defense is about 3 points. I would follow matchups all year. Start defenses that play horrible offenses like the Bengals or the Chiefs.

  • Don’t forget… Matt Cassel will get sacked about 15 times. The Lions defensive line will eat the Chiefs offensive line alive.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a pair of picks and a pair of fumbles from Cassel.
