Week Eleven: Total Embarrassment, and More to Come

Damn! After the Chargers game Halloween night Kansas City Chiefs fans couldn’t have been more excited. The team was 4-3 and headed to 6-3 before the Monday Night match-up against the New England Patriots.

That Chargers game seems like eons ago. This Chiefs team got man handled by a horrible Miami Dolphins team then turned around to become the laughing stock of the NFL by losing to a team that only completed two passing attempts. Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos went 2 for 8, completing his first pass late in the third quarter and still managed to beat the Chiefs. This is embarrassing, period.

What was also embarrassing is my fantasy loss by 25 points. My Banana Slugs were cruising at 8-1 until that speed bump. I’m still 8-2 and tied for first place in my division but missed a chance to go a game up.

So now the Chiefs have lost Matt Cassel for an undetermined period of time. Is this really a bad thing? Could he really play any worse than he has already? I say no. Realistically he could have played worse, but what is the harm in now giving someone else a chance? By no means am I suggesting that Tyler Palko is the second coming of Christ, but we do not know what this guy can do. He must be doing something right to have been bouncing around the league as a backup for all this time.

Law of percentages says Palko will fail, if not struggle mightily. However, how many times have we seen a star being born after he is given the chance to play because of an injury? Jeff Garcia, Jon Kitna, Tony Romo and Marc Bulger are a few I can think of off the top of my head. Could you image if Palko came out and played like Bulger did in St. Louis?

Fantasy wise this is a tough week if you own any Kansas City Chiefs players. At this time in the season, especially after the Cassel injury you should only have Jackie Battle and/or Dwayne Bowe on your rosters. No other Chiefs matter right now unless you have Jon Baldwin in a dynasty league. I can only is slightly good conscious recommend starting Bowe this week only because the Patriots have the NFL’s worst passing defense. Hell, Palko is going to have to throw it to someone right?

As a Chiefs fan I want to still see this team succeed. However, with this issue at quarterback I hope the team takes a hard look at the situation and makes getting a legit franchise QB the number one priority in the offseason. They need to target their guy either via the draft or free agency and do whatever it takes to get that guy.

At the start of week ten 27 of 32 starting QB’s had unique names. Six starting QBs entering week 10 had the same first name. What is the name and who are they?

  • Matt-Cassel, Moore, Schwab, Stafford, Ryan,Hasselback

  • I like this – Drop ‘em: All Colts RBs

  • Travis, you must have missed the one I had earlier in the season.

    Drop’em: All Rams WRs

  • Well Tom Brady was a back up til Drew Bledsoe got hurt then GOD was born. Key to success is a good mentor I think Rodgers is really good because he got to learn from Favre and learn the NFL. Rodgers said on ESPN radio @mikeandmike, He said on the offseason he studies defenses and learns all year long this is why he picks apart everyone. Aaron Rodgers is making history. Curious to see Leinhart get back in it after being back up maybe he has improved his head game, something all USC Qb’s seem to have a problem with. @sanchez
I wouldn’t play any chiefs players this week in fantasy.
